IRIS Technology Ltd Dubai, UAE has invented a new eye scanning system to replace passport and travel documents inside the Dubai International Airport.

With the latest trends in the World, Human is finding new methods to battle the new enemies against Human Race. Within the last couple of years, Airport has become the most hazardous place from its crown of the safest place in the town. The reason is the human race is battling against an invisible enemy. With those new battles, the current airport security system isn’t working properly. So a new security system has introduced. It is not to battle potential risk but to protect the health of passengers and staff.

Potential Risk at the airport during any Pandemic including Covid-19

In current common paper works at Airport is demanding more papers, more staff, more direct contacts and more health risks in the situation. At the first point of entering the airport, you meet security and they will have direct contact. At the check-in counters, boarding gates, duty-free shops and restaurants are opening for direct contacts. With this situation, World’s busiest Airport came up with a solution. Let’s discuss the solutions, Pros and it’s cons.

How new eye-scanning tech helps in Dubai International Airport

Welcome and greeted by virtual emirates ground crew to eye-scanning activation system at the very first entry

Dubai International Airport in UAE has introduced IRIS Recognition Technology. In simple words, Eye Scanning Technology is NOW ON. The passenger needs to hand over his or her passport, tickets and boarding pass to the various people and he or she needs to take it back. Most dangerous thing is, it is very hard to clean a Passport, Ticket or Boarding card with any known possible cleaning agent such as alcohol, water and soap or any other thing.

We can use e-tickets and e-boarding passes. But we cannot replace the Travel Documents like Passports. It is a very sensitive document. You cannot even think to put alcohol or any cleaning agent on your passport. But it is dangerous to exchange this between officials and passengers.

Why Dubai Introduced this first?

Dubai’s Artificial Intelligent powered eye-scanning technology is an answer. Dubai is the pioneer in real-life experiences of Science and Technology. So they have very powerful and fully-fledged agencies to find these types of solutions. And it was always backed by DUBAI Leader Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. This leaders vision and effort is so amazing to ensure the best for his city. And Dubai is very brave to introduce whatever in the first place.

I attached my favourite best quote made by his highness

So they introduced it. Passengers can easily go through these systems.

How does this IRIS Eye-Scanning Airport System work at Dubai International Airport?

In the first place, the system is collecting biometric information. And they cross-check it with information. Passport number, ticket number and verifications, covid vaccine information, PCR testing results and verifications as well as passengers’ covid history. This information will be stored in the system and beyond the first point, passengers can easily pass through gates and counters without any contact with staff but eye contact with IRIS scanners.

“The future is coming,” said Major Gen. Obaid Mehayer Bin Suroor, deputy director of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs. “Now, all the procedures have become ‘smart,’ around five to six seconds.”

Are there any downside or risk of privacy?

With this technology, authorities can easily monitor the passengers without potential security or health risk. When we see this subject, it is very smooth going and optimistic. But there is an issue that can be easily noticed. It is the Privacy Protection of the Passengers. For this matter of concern, the Dubai airport authority has issued an agreement between passengers and authority over privacy concerns. It is called Emirate’s biometric privacy statement.

It is confirming that no third party can see or use passengers’ information other than authority and they do not produce copies of passengers data to use other bodies of emirates.

Other than that there is no clear clue about the storage methods and using policies of these data by the authority itself.

Some International tech geeks and independent parties have raised concern that it is much safer if this system was under the care of democratic administration as it can be questioned and can be demanded more transparency.

Raising the issue with all respect to UAE for their great contribution to the World.

We have huge respect over countries like UAE for their contribution to the economy, cultural tolerance and fair policies for opportunities. Meanwhile, we urge people to always take the side of Safety Concerns of Privacy as we believe the privacy of people is matters. In many cases, people will point fingers at the counter-part to justify a privacy violation. One wrong thing cannot be justified by another
The wrong thing was done by counter-part. All wrong things are wrong. Share this video to raise awareness and Support UAE and its amazing leader to more inventions.

Above all, we believe that UAE will resolve this as they are the most community-friendly government in the Arab world.
